You would not know it without telling you, but I made this image on the Blue Ridge Parkway last year. The region had always staggered me with its beauty, especially when I was younger, and ventured off the "easy" paths.
When I am in such settings, I like to imagine my camera can take two pictures simultaneously: one what it sees today, and the other what it would see if everything was identical, except that it was a hundred or even two hundred years earlier. What would have been in the frame, then? What would not? How about two hundred years hence?
And yet, I am always so certain -about everything.
