Pickwick, TN and A Roadside Eden
"Pickwick, TN"
I like to refer to this image as my Pickwick Diptych primarily because of the name's ring. It makes me smile.
You really just never know what you will find as you ramble this world. I found this bit odd, concrete statue garden traveling from Atlanta to Pickwick, TN. I was riding along with my good friend Meri as moral support while Meri was doing the hair of one of her good clients for "the wedding." In case you do not know, hair is a massive thing at weddings.
All of a sudden, in the middle of nowhere, we whizzed past a hoard of long-abandoned figurines frozen in concrete. When I say abandoned, I mean abandoned; trees had grown from under. They were toppled and overgrown. No signs, no houses, no stores, no explanations! Simply a conclave of mermaids, goddesses, and birdbaths, with an adonis or two for good measure, alongside a small rural road snaking across the top of Alabama.
There was absolutely no way I was going to pass this by. We stopped. I created pictures. I will leave the interpretation of this diptych to you...
Pickwick, TN is available in two sizes: 8x12 inch limited edition of ten & 16x24 inch limited edition of five
