A new single image triptych, 20x60 inches, Limited Edition of One (1 artist proof)
These three images are from the woods on our mountain in very early spring. There are tiny little green buds beginning to peek out throughout the woods. On this day, the light was unique, the air was hazy with light humidity which helped to radiate the sunlight that was barely making it through the cloud cover. Everything was soft and silent. meditative, I wanted to capture the fleeting unique moment in a unique way to emphasize the moment. I decided to move the camera as I tripped the shutter. I must have made over a hundred exposures in hopes that I would get lucky.
Many of the images were nice but they still did not communicate the scale of the feeling or the unique quality of the moment.
Today as fall begins, six months later, I have revisited the series without the preconceptions I had back then. This compilation is what became obvious to me. Now I think it expresses the unique time, place, and feelings I experienced as evoked by the scene in very early spring.
Buzzards Roost, Midway Up measures 20 x 60 inches and is printed on a white background and mounted on acrylic which I think enhances the perception of looking through a window to another world. I envision it framed in a warm-silver, thin wood box frame with about a half-inch shadow around the image. No frame back to allow light to pass through.
