TRI-COUNTY DIRT TRACK RACE
Anyone who loves making pictures knows that some walk right up to you and jump right into the camera; you're just lucky you were holding it. Young Patriot was one of those. I have been to the Tri-County Dirt Track in North Georgia several times on holidays with my camera. One day I will have enough good images to make a series or a book about it.
This Fourth Of July, I was standing in the middle of the pit area shooting, vaguely aware of some kids beside me looking at the sun through their miniature American Flags. Then, as I turned to the right, I saw this. I pulled the camera to my eye, composed and exposed. It was over in less than two seconds. I knew I had a shot and that it was one hundred percent a gift. I think I understand how Henri Cartier-Bresson must have felt during all of his decisive moments, but I cannot claim any expertise.
