I spotted this scene of high-contrast light and shadow across geometric shapes several years ago while driving around with a camera in Jasper, Georgia. I immediately pulled over to park my car and walked to the site. It seemed to glow and call me from on top of the hill. Once there, I thought of photographer Jacques Henri Lartigue. Now, be sure I am in no way equating my work with his, but I think I may have felt some of the same inspiration he felt for some of his images, specifically a few of his oceanside photographs in high-contrast sunlight.
I knew I was in the presence of something I wanted to capture and communicate, albeit nowhere near as well as he.
