Blairsville, Georgia -2014
HAPPY NEW YEAR
2023
Wishing Everyone a happy new year in 2023 -lots of joy, peace, and happiness!
I made this photograph on the outskirts of Blairsville, Georgia. The day was February 13, 2014. It was a fair amount of snow for Georgia, making it a rarity in itself, but I enjoyed the dramatic sky the most. This image captures the last of the snow clouds heading north. I was on location composing this shot, quickly trying to set it up before I lost all of the weather drama; it was all gone in less than fifteen minutes.
Blairsville, Ga. 2014 was juried into an exhibit by Mary Stanley later that year.

Todd Suttles - Thanks, David. Yeah, it borders on being in the Pretty Picture Classification in my mind, except that the experience of making it seemed almost Holy. It was a dead still, peaceful, silent moment. The light was magnificent. The storm was lifting and leaving. The moment felt like a gift that was a Yin for the Yang to whatever emotional state I was in at the time (no longer remembered).

David Eckels - I know it is a bit "conventional" for you, but this is truly a masterpiece: composition, color, tones, everything! I can see why it was selected.
